Howgot its name

Radler(Shandy) was invented by tavern owner, Franz Xavier
Kugler, on a beautiful Sunday in 1922.

His tavern, a popular excursion destination just outside Munich, was visited by thousands of cyclists. There were so many of them that he didn't have enough beer to quench their thirst. So the clever tavern owner came up with a solution. When his stocks of beer started dwindling, he mixed it half-and-half with lemonade.

He called it "Radler" (the German word for cyclist) and told everyone that he'd invented the drink especially for cyclists so that they could quench their thirst and still cycle home in a straight line.

Hachenburger Radler is available in 0.33 litre swing top bottles and 30 litre kegs.
